DHL Reacts to Corona Crisis: Parcel Stop from Germany to the USA

The reason for the new regulations is the current shortage of transport capacity for deliveries abroad. Many aircraft are currently grounded because of Covid-19. From 1 April, letters can therefore still be sent to the USA, but the dispatch of goods mail and small packages will no longer be possible for the time being.

Parcels can only be sent to the USA with the Premium Service, except for an indefinite period of time – so there are hefty surcharges. Depending on the weight of the parcel, additional costs of between 16 and 90 Euros will be charged. Just before Easter, many families in Germany will be thinking twice before sending Easter greetings to family and friends in the USA.

A detailed list of the additional costs can be found here.
