On Monday, September 22nd, the German School Brooklyn held their official Opening Ceremony with students, parents, and officials in attendants. After several short speeches and heart-warming performances by the students the Consul General of New York, Ms. Brita Wagener and the Head of Cultural Affairs, Mr. Jakob von Wagner handed out the traditional German “Schultuete” . Mommy Mondays in Brooklyn is resuming this month. Usually it’s happening every 3rd Monday of the months that Moms from Brooklyn and beyond have a chance to get together for dinner, drinks and conversation. Did we mention drinks…?

Lieder & Geschichten, the popular program created by Barbara Rellstab from Rella’s Spielhaus is starting today with the class for 3-5 year olds in the UWS.
Check out the additional classes on Wednesdays and Saturdays from infants and toddlers as well as a “Lesen & Schreiben” class for 6-9 year olds.

In a renaming ceremony held on Tuesday, September 2nd, Deutsche Schule New York (DSNY) officially changed its name to German International School New York (or G.I.S. for short). This new name proudly recognizes the increasingly multinational and multicultural composition of its student body and reflects GIS’s goal of developing inquisitive, open-minded and socially aware global citizens.
